Fault-Tolerant Design With Comprehensive Diagnostics

Rugged construction and fault-tolerant design ensure system continuity in demanding conditions. Digital switching eliminates mechanical relays and their corresponding reliability issues. Line supervision to each station detects open and short circuits, and extensive diagnostics tools quickly identify problems to minimise maintenance time and cost.

No Mechanical Relays

Conventional relay-switched intercom systems fail in high-use institutional environments because mechanical relays wear out. MicroComm DXL routes all audio in the digital domain, with no mechanical relays anywhere in the signal path. The result is a system that performs reliably across the high call volumes that characterise a large correctional facility.

Audio Level Alarm Detection

MicroComm DXL includes audio level alarm detection across the system, allowing operators to be alerted to abnormal audio conditions at any station. In a correctional environment where incidents can develop quickly, automated detection of unusual audio activity provides an additional layer of situational awareness beyond traditional call-and-respond communication.

Discrete Audio Monitoring

Privacy Station Capability

Discrete audio monitoring capability allows authorised operators to monitor specific stations or areas without activating a visible call indication at the monitored station. In high-security environments where situational awareness must be maintained without alerting individuals being monitored, this capability is a standard operational requirement.

PLC and Security System Integration

MicroComm DXL is designed for integration with programmable logic controllers, door control systems, and the full security management infrastructure of a correctional facility.
